On May 23, 2019, my husband and I are jumping into our vehicle for what is sure to be an adventurous drive from Phoenix, Arizona, to South of the Border. We will light at Lengüeta Arenosa, Baja California, Mexico, a sandy peninsula just south of the vibrant city of Ensenada.
After 30 years of marriage, I figure it’s time to stretch our horizons a bit and do something that we have never done before–drive to Mexico. Beyond the bungalow (located smack-dab on the beach) that we booked for 5 nights, we have no plans to do anything, except to be spontaneous and enjoy the Mexican people and the culture.
Yup! We are going to wing it! Isn’t this always the best way to experience something new?
I will document our trip with photos and video as much as possible, and if all goes according to plan, I will blog what we experienced upon our return.
For all my naysayer friends out there that would never consider driving to Mexico–eat your heart out! The last time we visited Mexico (on a 2018 food and wine-tasting day trip with a small tour group), it was one of the BEST experiences of our lives.
Here are just a few of the pics from last year’s day trip. The Mexican people were wonderful, the food was sensational, and the wine was superb. We expect the same this trip:
